Virtual Iraq by Susan Halpern

"Put on those goggles! Let's fix this thing!"
These googles are magic and will cure your illness.
Flashback. BOOMBLAMBLAST. Flash.
Back again. Turning over. Insomniac. Just use your magic goggles.
Let's bring you back to what caused this nightmare....
"In order to cure your intrusive and uncontrollable thoughts, you must wear the goggles!"
"No questions asked!"
You're sickness is serious - you must try this.
Side effects include: emotional detachment, numbness, jumpiness, anger, and avoidance.
"I'm sure you're fine with that. Proceed with the medication!"
Just play this video game and we could be on the brink of a cure.
Lose-Lose. Win-Lose. Win-Win.

  1. This is a really clever way to show how we are as a society. We see things through these magic goggles we wear and pretend that everything is fine in world we have created for ourselves. Occasionally we will allow ourselves to see things for what they are, feel some type of emotion and depending on if its negative "proceed on with the medication to fix it". It couldn't have been said any better.
